Tree Planting
Here is a list of several important steps when planting a tree:
The best time to plant is in the early spring once the ground has thawed or the fall at least three weeks before the ground freezes.
Dig a hole 2 times as wide as the root ball but only as deep as the root ball.
Ensure that the trunk flare is visible. Remove any soil touching the trunk.
Water the tree while back filling in the hole. Keep the soil moist by watering once a week.
Place mulch around the tree and keep a 5cm mulch free area around the trunk.
